Ability to insert reference by navigating aliases on the fly

Does anyone know if/how it is possible to insert a [[reference on the fly, but directly insert one of its aliases instead of the actual rem name?

In my workflow, each paper I read have a dedicated rem with the full name of the paper as its name. I would like to search a paper by it’s full name, but insert it as its alias “Authors, date”.
Thanks

I support your suggestion that “aliases” is not an effective function.Even it cannot be retrieved

It is a joke~

You USED to be able to do it directly by typing [[ and searching for the alias just like any other Rem. Unfortunately, this has been broken for MONTHS and months and months. It’s really frustrating.

For now, you’ll just have to use a workaround when an alias doesn’t show up in search. The quickest way I know of is to highlight the full Rem reference in the search window that pops up and then hit Tab to navigate inside it, highlight the “Aliases” Rem and hit Tab AGAIN to navigate inside of THAT one, and then, finally, choose the desired alias to insert. Alternatively, you can insert the full Rem reference first and then click it, select “Edit Reference Text (Add Alias),” and choose the desired alias from the list.

Hello,
Thank you for providing me with a workaround.
Method2 is exactly what I’m trying to avoid.
Regarding Method 1, I have a question : aren’t you creating a reference to a reference that happens to be the child of ~Alias, instead of referencing the actual alias?
thanks for your help
