How to cancel cut (ctrl + x) 's highlight?

I cut some content using “ctrl + x”, and the content highlight, how could I cancel it? ( Esc doesn’t work)

The simplest is probably to just cut something else, like a single letter.

CTRL+C cancels it too.

But I agree it should be ESC.

I disagree that it should be ESC because the highlight visualize the clipboard content and ESC does not clear the clipboard.
