Please focus on bug fixes over new features

I only have my iPhone and my iPad to use RemNote with and I encounter way too many bugs. The thing is that trying to find workarounds and writing bug reports take too much time away and it has been holding back my school performance because I completely shifted to RemNote and when something isn’t working right, I’m out of options. The new features are cool and all but they do not compensate the time that’s lost through bugs. I know that I’m probably a minority because most students have a laptop but I still urge you guys to focus on bug fixing. I also don’t think that RemNote will suffer too much from it considering all the features it already has

How buggy do you feel RemNote is? On a scale

  • 10: I have to spend half the time working around bugs hardly getting things done.
  • 5: I notice them, but they are not that annoying.
  • 0: What bugs?

Maybe there should be more categories, but I don’t want to split further for now.

I think RemNote is still in that phase where every new feature is incredibly useful. Even the mobile versions are recent “new features”. Personally, I wouldn’t like them to hold back on new things just because they aren’t polished, as long as what was previously usable remains being usable and the data is safe.

I’d say for studying, RemNote already has the most important features and at least for my use case having less bugs would save me much more time than new features would. All of this is coming from a student of course. I’m not saying that we don’t need any new features at all but I just really dislike using RemNote because big chunks of my time are lost due to me running into bugs pretty often, trying to find the cause, writing the bug report and finding workarounds. Doesn’t seem like much but it adds up over time and the effort feels kinda wasted. Maybe a slight shift in priorities is already enough to make RemNote more efficient

You’re right - the (mobile especially) editing experience could be smoother. We’re consistently working on these from the github backlog and will of course continue to do so. @88DM88 thank you for all of the bug reports there! I’ll note that the beta mobile experience seems to have a number of more problems than the desktop version, and we’re actively continuing to work through both.

We try to be cognizant of how to best allocate our developer time to maximize user experience. Sometimes, new features can be far less time to implement than pinning down a tricky (and maybe rare) bug, and we think that in our early state this is still a tradeoff that’s sometimes worth it to make. However, we of course understand that every single bug adds friction for using RemNote as a thinking tool - a place where any friction is extremely undesirable. So - we hear you and we’re continuing to work on it!

Thanks for replying to that!

Makes sense. I agree.
