Quick Add as an Independent window, not only in RemNote

Problem:: When ideas come, users want to quickly capture ideas. The current RemNote solution requires users to have RemNote open to doing quick capture which is not fast enough.

Suggestion:: Real global quick capture in the system scope. Feel free to copy what Things 3 or OmniFocus have.

I think we already have this on the Desktop app. Open the keyboard shortcuts and look for the “Desktop only” ones.

Do you mean the Operating system: quick add? It only works when I’m focused on the RemNote. But if I was focusing on Chrome. Then it doesn’t work. But maybe it just me. Feel free to try it out as well.

I wish it to be like this. A window pops up and gives you a promt.

There are localization issues which is sad because the Desktop only shortcuts can’t be remapped: https://github.com/remnoteio/remnote-issues/issues/377

They work on QWERTY:

I agree that only showing a small popup (not the full app) would be even cooler.

when you press shortcut ctrl shift alt \ ` you get

I want something like TickTick, show the quick add window above other apps instead of remnote app, so you could easily copy content from chrome etc to remnote

Basically I want a feature like the quick add but right now it adds it to the queue

I would like to have something where if RN is not open you could hit a hotkey & a note area appears. You jot your note down & continue with your stuff w/o having to open RN. Be nice to have ability to save it to specified location. Similar to the EverNote Helper

I don’t want this being limited to having the browser open but could be used if you were using browser or other stuff on desktop.

Be useful when you have an idea etc but are in your flow so quickly jot it down. Your idea might not be fully formed so not sure where to put it yet. More intended to add items to your notes/ kb vs your cards

I would agree that this would be a cool feature. Right now, you can use the quick add feature and save a “thought” under a specific parent rem on desktop (ctrl+alt+shift+`), but it only works when the app is open. For this proposed feature to work, I think that RemNote would have to be open and running on your computer in some capacity as a background task. Regardless, maybe we could create some solution for now using AutoHotKey or some similar program like that!

You just need a keyboard macro app, like Keyboard Masetro (on mac):

Not entirely sure if this is similar to what’s already been said in the thread, but a feature like Mem Notes “spotlight” where the shift, command space bar opens up a window to take notes no matter what app you’re in then save to the app directly would be fantastic in remnote, especially if it preserves the flashcard formatting!!

Would love that as well so long as it is not limited to Mac but can also be used on PC
