RemNote alternatives: Encryption & Local sync

Given that privacy isn’t a priority within RemNote, and by all appearances, is not about to be, does anyone have a line on an app that performs similar function, but does not oppose encryption and local sync?

There is nothing important enough to use RemNote for that isn’t important enough to secure from RemNote.

Hey! Just to clarify, are you implying that RemNote isn’t prioritising data privacy?

Glad to hear your needs are being met. Not interested in the argument. Thanks, again.

You absolutely can use only a local database, so nothing ever gets sent anywhere, and any encryption you like to shuffle the files among your ecosystem.

Local knowledge base != local sync.

AFAIK it’s literally a folder with a password. Use whatever you like to sync it.

@UMNiK

That wasn’t the question. The question was:

Given that privacy isn’t a priority within RemNote, and by all appearances, is not about to be, does anyone have a line on an app that performs similar function, but does not oppose encryption and local sync?

I guess my question is how do you get “oppose” from “use whatever you feel comfortable with”? “Not a priority” is fair enough. A fully open source alternative would definitely involve Anki and one of the networked notebook Github projects (I think Logseq is the most mature at the moment). Again though, you definitely can use RemNote without ever exposing your personal data in any way.

All of my data are personal. It isn’t RemNotes call, nor is it yours.

Loqseq looks interesting. Thanks for that tip.

What call do you feel is being made, though? You don’t even have to create an account to make a local knowledge base. Heck, download the installer through Tor if you like. How could it get more privacy-safe without being open source?

Thanks again for the tip. Not interested in the argument.

As a fellow privacy enthusiast, I’m just curious about what you feel is missing. In my estimation, RemNote is as privacy-minded as a closed source app ever can be. Maybe I missed something you noticed?

@Karthikk

The product implies it. I am interrogating the implication. In organizations that value privacy, you find products designed from the ground up with privacy in mind.

Bolt-on solutions that organizations who do not value privacy find themselves forced into later, are often sub-optimal.
