Spaced Repetition flashcards for learning an instrument

Hello.

I’m completely new to Remnote and from what I see, it is something I wished I had when I was a student.

I’m a pianist and I am looking for a tool that helps me with spaced repetition and interleaved practicing.

I would like to generate flashcards with certain parts from my sheet music that will be shown to me at random (interleaved practice) and spaced out so that the parts I can play well will be shown less frequent than the parts I struggle with.

The flashcards should only show the sheet music. Once the part is shown to me I will practice it and then I will tell the card how well I played it. So it should not be a Question/Answer card. It should simply be a picture/pdf of the sheet music.

I hope it is clear what I am trying to achieve. Can someone tell me how I can do this with Remnote?

Thanks for the help

Best
Harald

Use Image Occlusion on the screenshots of your sheet music. Here’s a video tutorial.

Hi UMNIK.

Thanks for answering. Unfortunately that is not what I am looking for.
Isn’t it possible to make a flashcard out of a pdf?

best wishes

The only way to make image flashcards is the one described above. Where you get the images from doesn’t matter, though RemNote does have some PDF features to natively take images from uploaded pdf (I believe it is ctrl+drag).

The only way I can think of this working is by using a description of the passage as your flashcard ‘question’, followed by the sheet music as the answer. You can then select how well you managed to play the passage and it will follow your standard spaced repetition rules.

The downside of this is that you can only do limited passages and not select multiple pages - if that is ok, then this will work.
You save an image grab from your pdf sheet music and paste it as the answer (windows+shift+S) for windows or (cmd+shift+S) for mac

Thanks for the input.

I think I will do the work and separate my sheet music in all the parts that I need to practice separately and do flashcards with just those snippets.
