The following cases test different features of RemNotes new linking capability, with minor problems/inconveniences highlighted in blue. Suggestions for improvement follow. I’ve just screen clipped my notes from RemNote.
This new link handling is a great step forward, but here are some additional suggestions:
-
A click on an inline link should go directly to a website, with perhaps a right-click option to go to the rem instead. RATIONALE: inline links are currently inconsistent, as they do not always go directly to a website (it goes directly to a site only if it was originally pasted in that way, not if it was typed in by hand)
-
A right click on a hyperlink OR an inline link should allow editing of the link to make a new click-to-follow-to-website link. RATIONALE: RemNote offers no way to edit links, and it is inconvenient to have to go back to a browser to edit a link, then back to RemNote to paste it in.
-
Editing a hyperlink or an inline link (last point) should pre-populate the edit box with the existing hyperlink or inline link. RATIONALE: often what is needed is a small tweak to a link, and if the edit field is not pre-populated there is no convenient way to make a change without re-typing the whole link (with the additional possibility of making a mistake with a long link).
-
Allow a way to go directly to a weblink in a source without having to open the document. It would also be nice to be able to see if a rem has a source without having to open the document. This could perhaps be accomplished in a right-click menu option. (See final bullet in clip above).
Apologies in advance if I’ve missed something obvious or misconstrued the intent of any features.
