Why can't I copy the example Universal Descriptors from the tutorial?

Hi there, I am new to RemNote so just finding my feet.
In the tutorial about Universal Descriptors there is an option to copy the example set but when I click on this all I get is a blank document with the title Universal Descriptors
Is this feature only available once you pay a subscription?

Hello,
I believe this is not a paid subscription feature.
You can also learn more about the subscriptions in the RemNote Help Database.

I’m a free user, and learning as I go as well :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
I was able to copy the following without any issues.

I’m sure you already know how to copy it.
When I did click the text above, these two popped up for me with the sample set from the portal.

This was with the recent update 1.3 update on the Chrome browser.

I tried it on the desktop app because the 1.3 update hasn’t loaded up there yet.

I copied another portal but this is what appeared.

  • It’s not really similar to your situation but the difference in the updates may have something to do with it.

  • Are you in the recent update? Maybe wait for the update to load up and copy it again?

Sorry in advance, if my response isn’t much of any help.

You should be able to copy the long list at the bottom by pressing:

A list with them should appear in your Knowledge Base:

Alternatively, you should be able to drag-select the list of Universal Descriptors, copy, and just paste it into a document in your KB.

Is none of those options working for you?

Hey, I’m a relatively new user to the remnote community, but I am struggling to copy these universal descriptors… Could you share a detailed procedure to fix this issue?

Hey sonderous
thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am using the app which I only recently downloaded. Certainly didn’t get the results you show appearing in the lefthand panel. I’ll keep trying.
Thanks again

No problem!
Also, I just came across a power-up that you may also have access to. Try searching the “~” aka the tilde power-up.
This pops up

I never knew about this lol, maybe try if it pops up for you too?

Hi thank you for your help
I think I have solved the mystery of copying the full list. I had downloaded the app and created a non-synced local knowledge base. I have since started using RemNote in a web client (chrome) and created a new knowledge base that is synched. In this KB I have successfully copied across the full list of Universal Descriptors - Yay!
Still not clear how this helps me though. If I want to define something as say an Assertion (a term I have added to my list of Universal Descriptors) then should I be able to type a tilde and start typing ass… to see the list pop up with that option?
Grateful for any advice you can give me here
C

Really great you were able to do so! :+1:
I’m using RemNote more on the Chrome browser too.
Simply typing ~ won’t pop up any options. You would have to type ## (double hashtag to make a tag, then you can type ~asser... and your universal descriptor should pop up. I hope the gif below helps out too.

So [[ + ~ + the Universal Descriptor's name, should insert them into your workflow. :upside_down_face:

Obviously, there are other ways to use them, like @sonderous demonstrated.

Happy to hear you were able to import them into your Synched KB. :grinning: To get the list into your Local KB, do it like this:
